Postcards from the Edge – tips and tricks for studying the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from students who have been there!
"Have Fun! If you make it fun the learning will be easier! ENJOY!" May 2008 "On day one it might look like a huge challenge. Day Eleven was hugely satisfying that you've overcome the challenge." May 2008 "I was nervous with the whole Cert. IV concept due to other work colleagues not knowing what directions after 2 weeks (other venues). After 2 weeks, thanks to Helen and APCOT I can comfortably leave the classroom heading in the right direction." May 2008 "Congratulations on getting here. Starting off – keep open minded, listen and hang in there. Pace yourself to do the work, use the opportunity with the group and KEEP asking questions." May 2008 Dear new APCOT friend, Welcome to an intensive experience that will undoubtedly prove to be one of the most valuable learning experiences of a lifetime. Gabby will weave her magic to help you understand the complex area of adult learning. Do NOT be worried about the initial mass of material, it WILL all come together for you and you will have a sudden realisation that its clear, relevant and highly useful in your future work. As a facilitator, Gabby is (in my long experience) the best! Listen, observe, participate, ENJOY. All the best, Geoff Haw. Dear Learner, Prepare yourself for an amazing experience. It will be challenging and entertaining whilst taking your mind into areas you may never had explored before. The workload may appear daunting but it is all relevant and will come together in the end. Participate, persevere and you will be rewarded. Best wishes, Trevor Woodward When your comfort zone seems but a spec on the horizon: DON'T PANIC! Its borders will rapidly expand to meet you. Dear Learner, During this course expect the unexpected and bring along your sense of humour. Gabby is very supportive and approachable. She can be a little scary during and after role plays, however don't be scared, she is very funny and does snap out of it. Tips for this journey: if in doubt, ask questions. Dear Learner, During the course expect to be:
Dear Learner, Although the coming course and workload may be scary, don't let it get the best of you. The course is a lot of fun and you will have an excellent facilitator to guide you through your learning. Good luck and enjoy the course. Dear Learner, Though you will be overwhelmed by the load initially, it does eventually fall into place. Don't forget to bring a sense of humour. Don't be surprised if goals change along the way. Cheers. DONT PANIC! The mountain will be climbed; the puzzle pieces will fit together for you. There is time enough for confusion to give way to understanding. It will, ultimately, be well. Michael Green It does seem hard at the start. Use every moment you can and think smart about it. Things are only as complicated as you make them. Don't try to reinvent the wheel, someone has already done what you need, so find it, summarise or imitate it. Work hard, it is possible to finish the course on time without stress. Dear Learner, Expect to be enlightened, entertained and challenged during your training. Bring your enthusiasm and an open mind and you will have nothing to worry about. Embrace the opportunity to benefit from Gabby's vast experiences and years of knowledge. Go forth and conquer. Best wishes, Deb Wilson Dear Learner, You have chosen a great course for achieving your cert IV TAA40104 qualification. Gabby is a knowledgeable and talented facilitator who you will enjoy and learn lots from. The course is fun and packed with loads of learning for everyone. When the road gets bumpy and you feel there is so much to cover and so much to complete, take a breather, make a coffee, have a laugh with your fellow learners and soldier on. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!!! Good luck and happy learning. All the best, Michelle Wardell. |
